Friday Field Trip!
Today was quite a day, I tried foods I never knew existed. Some were great, others were learning experiences. The Asian super market was a bit of a culture shock. There were very few things in that store that i recognized. Just about everything in there looked like it either belonged in a fairy tail book or on another planet. The fresh produce and most of the butchered meat were most the shocking. The produce was the weird part with vegetables and fruit that looked too strange to be real. The shocking part was the meat where all of it was fresh, some so fresh it was still running around. The variety of sea food was really impressive. The only animals I recognized were the crabs and lobsters. The amount of seasonings, rice, and snack foods was overwhelming. The scavenger hunt almost made my head explode. The second part of our expedition tasked us with an adventure through some Chinese cuisine. There were dumplings, bbq pork buns, short ribs, cuddle fish, shrimp dumpling things, some kind of sweet rolls, egg custard buns, chicken's feet, and just waaaaay too much to remember. But what I do remember is the conversations that were triggered by the food. Before the food came out everyone was a little reserved and spoke here and there, but once the steamers hit the deck all linguistic hell broke loose and there were too many stories to keep up with. It was a fun mad house that I learned something in, which made every minute of it great.
