Day Four: Over the bridge and into cold noodles

Thursday, January 9th

Simple Sesame Noodles

>12 oz fluid thin noodles cooked & drained
>1/4 cup soy sauce
>2 tablespoon sugar
>4 cloves minced garlic
>2 tablespoons rice vinegar
>3 tablespoons pure sesame oil
>1/2 teaspoon hot chili oil
>4 tablespoons canola oil
>4 whole green onions sliced thin
Preparation
-Whisk all ingredients except onions and noodles in a bowl and adjust ingredients as needed. Pour sauce over noodles and toss to coat then add onions and toss again. Then serve.

Today the prep work was quick and clean and I actually made an edible dish! The dish that i made was seriously under seasoned but it's a step in the right direction. I intended on making cold noodles but halfway through i forgot that cold noodles aren't supposed to have boiling hot water in them. So i ended up eating over the bridge noodles. Noodles are seen as a longevity food and are traditionally eaten on birthdays just like in western culture eating cake is traditional. On everyone's birthday before her passing my grandmother would make that person one of her Dr. Pepper German chocolate cakes. For awhile this was a serious family tradition that she followed through with no matter what her condition.
